Marbella Beach (Playa Marbella) Costa Rica

In case you don’t know where Marbella beach (playa Marbella) is located in Costa Rica, I am going to give you a little hint, it is located in the north pacific of Costa Rica, this beach is very empty most of the year, but when the surf fires here (Costa Rica that is very often) you can get barrels and sick skate park conditions here, and the barrels here are very fast and very clean.

Here are some pictures of Marbella when is “flat”

Marbella looking South, plenty of party right in front of the beach, the sand at marbella is not white but is not dark either, in any case, the sand get’s supper HOT specially around NOON-2PM so make sure you make a quick run to the beach.

On the way to Marbella beach (playa marbella) there is a few sections with rocks where local fishermen like to throw the line and fish for whatever is good at the time, not much surfing going on here, but if you continue North you can find the spot where the famous waves of Marbella can be found.

These guys made it to Marbella and we are immediately checking out the surf situation.

You know you are in Marbella beach when you see this little rock sticking out, most of the time is very safe surfing, but sometimes on high tide this rock will hide so you must know at all time where exactly this rock is, sometimes I get freaked out because I think I might this this thing. Interestingly enough this rock is not very big but its definitely a pain, I wish somebody would come with dynamite and blast this to pieces that way people who surf here can do so with out worrying too much about this.

You can see some of the color of the sand at Marbella Beach (playa marbella), not all sand is this color you will usually find all kind of shades and tones, and don’t waste your time wearing flipflops like in this photo, sand in your toes and your feels is a very relaxing feeling.

Also on a side note, the few locals who live around the area have called this beach frijolar for many years, but it is commonly known as Marbella since that is the name of the little town closest to this beach.
