Scuba Diving in Costa Rica

The northwest Pacific coast of Costa Rica offers many scuba diving opportunities along the many different sites there are to explore, and many of these are located in the Gulf of Papagayo.

You can find many rock formations to explore and the visibility in these warm waters ranges from 20 to 80 ft. (6 to 24 m.).While diving the area is common to see large schools of fish, Jacks, Moray Eels, White-tipped sharks, Eagle Rays and Putterfish.

If you are a beginner it is recommended that you take lessons from local diving instructors.  There is also a range of first class equipment that is available for rent.

CaƱo island is located off the southwest coast and is also a very popular destination for divers where you can find large school of fish, rocky corals and undersea canyons.

Experts say that the long trip to Cocos island is worth it, this island has many different beaches and rock formations with crystalline water that are very popular among divers because there you will find one of the finest deep water dive sites in the world.
